Two Victims Revealed in the Providence Campus Incident as Authorities Persist in Search for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who died in Saturday’s mass shooting in Providence were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant persisted following the release by local law enforcement of the only individual of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

Her role included the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of the College Republicans organization, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also shared words of sorrow publicly, remarking: “There are no words. Thinking of her family and friends, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, family members said.

His name was confirmed by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

An additional nine individuals were injured in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said late Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a search at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was released from custody.

“A perpetrator remains free,” said the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our community”.

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a police source told the media outlet.

Law enforcement that raided the hotel recovered a pair of pistols and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was detained, the news agency reported.

Condition of the Injured

Regarding the nine injured, a single scholar was discharged from care, said Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, authorities stated on Sunday.

A private school, a private K-12 school in North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Further Tributes

Cook was remembered at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only here growing up... but at Brown she was a radiant presence in that institution as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the organization. “Ella was known for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she aided her club and peers,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by Umurzokov’s death in a statement. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, loved ones, and fellow students and grieve for of his potential.”

Broader Statistics

The fatal shooting at Brown, the country's seventh most historic higher education institution with about 7,300 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students, happened during one of at least nearly 400 mass shootings reported in the US so far in this year, according to data. That Monday marked the 349th day of the year.
