Two Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
