Three Athletes Shortlisted for Young Sports Personality Award

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the this year's Young Sports Star of the Year award.

These three athletes have been celebrated for their outstanding achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a historic innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The shortlisted athletes were unveiled on a widely-listened-to radio show.

The champion will be announced during a live broadcast on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.

The event will be broadcast from 7 PM GMT.

The Football Star

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her international debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She was introduced as a substitute to score crucial late equalisers in both the quarter-final and semi-final.

Her incredible contributions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the best young player in Europe.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"Being on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is an honour," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."

The Darts Prodigy

Littler kicked off the year in sensational style as - aged 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

He didn't stop there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the maiden occasion.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, smashing the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for this award again is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a special memory for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."

Davina Perrin

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and surged to prominence with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin came in second place in the run-scoring charts and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm truly honoured to be named a finalist for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it encourages more young women to get into cricket."
